Meet the
Bin Chicken

Every time I paddle on Sydney Harbour, I come home with more than I started with โ€” rubbish, collected by hand from the water.

The nickname "Bin Chicken" was given to me the same way it was given to the humble Ibis โ€” for an unrelenting habit of rummaging through other people's mess. I'll take it.

This site is a record of every paddle, every piece of plastic, and all the stuff pulled from one of the most beautiful harbours in the world. It's also a call to action.

The real problem

Most of what I find isn't just litter โ€” it's single-use plastic that never needed to exist. Bottles, wrappers, straws, takeaway containers. Products designed to be used once and discarded, and too much of ends up in our waterways.

The solution isn't just cleaning it up โ€” it's ending our supply chains' dependence on single-use plastic. That requires pressure: from consumers, from communities, and from the people who represent us.
